Alameda Unified School District will open all classes in distance learning on August 27, 2020. Students in the Remote Learning Program will do 100% online learning for the whole year. Students in the Flexible Learning Program will begin the year in the distance phase and return to campus for in-person instruction when the public health situation is safe enough to do so.

Greetings Franklin Falcon Families,
We appreciate your patience as we are continuing to prepare for distance learning opportunities should our suspension of in-class instruction continue beyond Spring Break. Please be sure to check your AERIES Communication Feed and email for updates.
AUSD's Teaching and Learning staff has developed a set of non-digital learning activities (meaning they require no computer or internet connection) and digital learning activities (meaning they are available on the internet) for our families to explore as teachers develop their curriculum for the next several weeks. Please take a look! They are available on our Online Learning Portal.
We miss you and your children, hope that you and your families are well, and hope the Shelter In Place results in us seeing one another soon. Please feel free to have your child email me at lchirrick@alamedaunified.org. It gives them writing practice and brightens my day!
Our school needs your feedback!
Please take 5 minutes to complete our anonymous family survey.
Families can click on the link below to access the AERIES Family Portal for report cards, test scores and more. Annual Data Confirmation in Aeries will open the week of July 27, 2020 .
Please see Kindergarten Enrollment Information below.

Parents, if you drop off or pick up your child on San Antonio, please do not block the driveways of our neighbors. We’ve had multiple complaints over the years about parents blocking a driveway making it impossible for the residents to get in and out of their driveway. Remember: The best place to park is around the park! Thank you for your cooperation and help in making sure Franklin School is a good neighbor!
For safety reasons, please use the crosswalk to get back and forth from where you have parked. If you are picking up or dropping off your child, consider using our hug-and-go lane. Please refrain from double parking, and remember, the Paru gate is not a drop off area.
We look forward to welcoming our newest Kindergarteners! Our Parent Information night will be Thursday, January 16th from 6:30-7:30pm in our Media Center.
If you would like to participate in a Kindergarten school tour, please call our office at 510-748-4004 to sign up for one of the following dates:
January 23rd at 9:00am
January 29th at 9:00am

The CAASPP Testing will be conducted during the month of May. Please have your child well-rested, fed, and ready for optimum performance. If you don’t receive more information on testing dates, please contact your child’s teacher.
Parents: The California Education Code Section 60615 states that parents/guardians may annually submit a written request to the principal of their student’s school if they do not wish to have their student take any or all tests. If a parent or guardian submits an exemption request after testing has begun, any test(s) completed before the request is submitted will be scored and the results reported to the parent or guardian and included in the pupil’s records. AUSD teachers and schools support students to do well on the tests and help them learn test-taking skills that will enable them to be successful throughout their school career and beyond. We encourage parents to contact their child’s teacher or principal with any concerns they may have about the test before they request that their student be excluded from taking the test(s).
