I was with IBM for 17 1/2 years straight out of college and I had many opportunities. I also ended up going back to school and pursuing my MBA.

To be in SHPE you just have to support our mission and vision to bring up our youth in an environment where they have an opportunity to learn STEM technologies and pass that on.

My advice would be: don't care too much about what other people think, step out of your comfort zone, get involved, and give back.

I attended Cal State LA and we had a very active SHPE chapter. I became a member in 1999 so if you count, I am now celebrating 20 years as a SHPE member.
